Silver Wind: The original luxury cruise ship.

Cruises on board the Silver Wind

Launched in 1995, the Silver Wind set the standard for what would become one of the world's leading luxury cruise lines. With just 296 passengers, the ship has an intimate, yacht-like atmosphere and an unbeatable standard of service. An extensive 2013 refurbishment spruced up her aging interiors, and her tasteful design retains an aura of timeless class. The onboard atmosphere is that of relaxed luxury. The muted color palettes and real-wood floors are modern and elegant, but also warm and inviting, so that nothing about the ship feels stuffy or imposing. You'll quickly feel at home on this boutique cruise ship.

Despite its small size, the Silver Wind offers the freedom of choice of a larger ship. Passengers can choose from four different dining venues, enjoy a surprisingly spacious spa, and relax in one of the several public spaces and lounges on board. With such a low passenger count, you'll never have to wait in line or compete for a seat in a lounge – in fact, you may just even have the space to yourself.

Ship information

Staterooms

The Silver Wind is an all-suite luxury cruise ship boasting all-Ocean View accommodation. Ocean View suites start at 240 square feet, and Veranda Suites boast an additional 50-square-foot balcony to boot. All suites come with a fully-stocked refrigerator stocked with your preferred beverages, premium European bath amenities, marble furnishings in the bathroom with a separate bathtub and shower, fresh fruit, and welcome champagne. Staterooms are equipped with 220v electrical outlets, so North American passengers will need an adapter.

Dining & Gastronomy

The Silver Wind has four delectable restaurants to choose from, plus sandwiches and small bites available at the Panorama Lounge throughout the day. The main dining room, called The Restaurant, serves popular continental fare, as well as dishes inspired by the regions the ship is visiting. More casual bites are available at La Terrazza and The Grill, which are Italian and grill themed, respectively. And the cream of the crop, La Dame by Relaix & Chateaux, serves gourmet French cuisine in a black-tie environment.

Entertainment and Activities

The atmosphere on the Silver Wind is relaxed and refined, with no over-the-top theatrical productions or noisy children's activities. Most passengers spend sea days lounging by the pool, relaxing in the public areas watching the waves go by, or indulging in luxurious beauty treatments in the Zagara Spa. Trivia competitions, reading in the library, and socializing at the bar are all popular onboard activities.

Dress Code

Silversea cruise ships have a tiered dress code of smart-casual, informal, and formal nights. The daily bulletin will announce each evening's dress code in advance. Though daytime dress is officially casual, it's common for Silversea passengers to dress a little nicer, more country club than resort, during the day. Swimwear is only allowed at the pool.
