Welcome to your private onboard oasis. With a bold, yacht-like aesthetic, high-tech luxury amenities, and flexible furniture arrangements, your cabin is the place to be to sleep, socialize, and party. State-of-the-art room lighting adjusts automatically to the time of day, or you can change it manually using an app on the tablet in your room. The bed can be transformed into a wrap-around couch, so whether you’re having a few friends over or a quiet night in, your room can accommodate. Smart climate control technology automatically adjusts the room settings to conserve energy when you’re away, giving the Scarlet Lady a five-star rating for environmental sustainability.
The stateroom selection on the Scarlet Lady is all about freedom of choice. Whether you’re traveling solo or in a group, you’re hosting parties or just looking for a place to sleep, there’s a cabin for you. “Insider” cabins feature decadent mood lighting, a flatscreen TV, a makeup mirror and vanity area, and a private bathroom with a spacious rainshower. Sea View staterooms have an additional outwards-facing window, with a window seat where you can perch and watch the waves. Upgrade to a Sea Terrace if you’d like to have a room with a private balcony, decked out with a hand-woven hammock in lieu of a table and chairs. Both Insider and Sea View staterooms are available for solo travelers, and standard Sea View and Insider staterooms can sleep up to three. If you’re a group of four and you want to travel on a budget, definitely check out the Social Insider, featuring four bunk beds in a hostel-like setup.
Sailors looking for that VIP treatment have eight different categories of suite to choose from, ranging from 352-square-foot Seriously Suites to the party paradise Massive Suite, which measures up at 2,147 square feet. Standard “Rock Star Suites” feature extra-large balconies and fully-stocked bars, sensual Peek-a-Boo showers with tinted glass, and access to an exclusive rooftop bar on the top deck of the ship. Upgrade to a “Mega Rockstar Suite” to have access to a European king-size bed, a vinyl record player, and an outdoor Peek-a-View shower on your balcony, in addition to the one in your bathroom. Hammocks, sun loungers, and top-shelf bath products are all included.
Dining & Gastronomy
When it comes to food, Virgin Voyages doesn’t mess around. You won’t find a buffet anywhere on the Scarlet Lady. Instead, prepare yourself for fresh, inspired cuisine at more than 20 different eateries. Among the restaurants which have already been announced are The Wake, a classic surf-and-turf steakhouse, culturally-sensitive upscale Mexican at Pink Agave, and Gunbae, a Korean barbecue. Dining on the Scarlet Lady is all about the experience, and you can be sure to encounter a range of experiences during your time onboard. From cooking classes at the culinary-school-cum-restaurant The Test Kitchen, to drag brunch at Razzle Dazzle, eating out at sea is anything but dull. But if you’re feeling too cozy in your RockStar Suite to get up and go out, never fear – there’s always room service.
Entertainment and Activities
The Scarlet Lady is a 24/7 adult playground for sailors who know how to have fun. Get your drink on at The Manor, a retro, theater-like bar that turns into a roaring dance club at night. Or catch the best up-and-coming new artists at a concert at sea. Partied too hard and need a little hair of the dog? What better place to sleep off a hangover than a shady spot by the pool, a cocktail in hand? Connoisseurs of cocktails, whiskey fanatics and lovers of gin will all be pleased with the selection onboard the Scarlet Lady – only top brands of liquors and spirits are served. And there’s something for the teetotalers, too – water, still and sparkling, soft drinks and juices, coffee, and tea are always available.
Fitness and wellness takes center stage on the Scarlet Lady. A state-of-the-art fitness center is the perfect place to sweat out some calories and get yourself in shipshape. Far more than just yoga, there are group classes for spin, HIIT workouts, boxing, and more. After your workout, treat yourself to a refreshing juice, or take a post-workout plunge into the Well-Being Pool. If you’re more into sweating at the sauna than sweating at the gym, be sure to spend some time at the Redemption Spa, where you can indulge in different wraps, massages, and mud baths.
Looking for a special souvenir, but already have enough keychains? Ever thought about getting a tattoo? The Scarlet Lady features Squid Ink, the first-ever tattoo parlor on a cruise ship at sea. Learn about how the art of tattooing spread from nautical traditions into the mainstream… then commemorate your voyage with one of your own!
Virgin Voyages has no set dress code, so you can come as you are. So if you show up to brunch in your pajamas, no one will judge. You might, however, raise a few eyebrows at dinner, so it’d be smart to pack some button-downs or some smart separates, just in case.
