Costa Smeralda

Say buongiorno to the new flagship of the Costa fleet!

Cruises on board the Costa Smeralda

Scheduled to launch in 2019, the Costa Smeralda will become the largest ship in the Costa cruise line. Named after Sardinia's Emerald Coast, the ship is a true tribute to Italy. The decks and public areas will all be themed after popular destinations in Italy, and passengers will be able to enjoy their favorite pizza, pasta, and gelato they know and love from other Costa ships. The ship will stop at popular ports in the western Mediterranean, including Barcelona, Rome, and Marseille.

True to her namesake, the ship is very green: the Costa Smeralda will be one of the first major cruise ships to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG), the cleanest ship fuel available today. She will also feature such innovations as new stateroom designs, full-height bathroom windows for more natural light, and a more modern, restrained color scheme.

One of Europe’s leading affordable cruise lines, Costa is known for taking exciting, action-packed voyages to sunny locations. Its itineraries are great for families, kids, and couples.

Staterooms

Furnished in a colorful Italian style, the staterooms on the Costa Smeralda are contemporary, elegant, and fun. Inspired by Italian cities, they’re outfitted in relaxing beige, teals, and reds. A high percentage of balcony staterooms means you’ll be able to enjoy the Mediterranean sun and fresh ocean breeze wherever you go, and the spacious suites are perfect for families and large groups.

Dining & Gastronomy

Experience a taste of Italy on your Costa cruise. From the buffet to the specialty dining venues, fresh Mediterranean cuisine takes center stage. The Pummid’Oro Pizzeria serves delicious, crispy, Italian-style pizza, and the onboard wine bar has an excellent selection of Italian wines. If you tire of pasta and pizza, check out the Asian fusion cuisine at the Samsara Restaurant, or enjoy a live cooking demonstration at the Teppanyaki Restaurant.

Entertainment and Activities

There’s never a dull moment on a Costa cruise. Between the parties, sports, and live entertainment, your Costa cruise vacation will be full of non-stop fun. The ship features activities for kids of all ages, from a baby pool and a kids’ club to water parks and video game arcades. And at night, things truly heat up, with teens and adult cruisers flocking to the late-night discos. Looking for a more relaxing vacation experience? Be sure to book a treatment at the Samsara Spa, the perfect retreat to improve your beauty, health, and wellness.

Dress Code

Costa Cruises has formal dress code, and suggested evening wear will be provided in your daily program. Check your itinerary to see if your cruise has any Formal Nights or themed parties, such as White Nights.
