American Spirit - 2019/2020 Cruises

Cruise the Alaskan waterways and the Puget Sound and get in touch with nature!

Cruises on board the American Spirit

American Spirit is a charming coastal vessel operated by the river cruise company American Cruise Lines. She sails around the Pacific Northwest, cruising around the San Juan Islands, through the waters of Puget Sound, and along the Washington coast. Experience some of America’s most beautiful nature on this American-built, American-flagged ship. You’ll visit lush, evergreen forests, visit historical port cities, and see some of the most incredible wildlife Washington has to offer – including, perhaps, the area’s resident orcas. The Olympic Mountains will provide a scenic backdrop to your adventure.

With a passenger capacity of just 100, guests can expect plenty of opportunities for getting to know their fellow cruise guests. The onboard environment is slow-paced and relaxed, and there are plenty of opportunities to go ashore to truly experience the areas you are visiting. All decks are accessible by elevator, and most shore excursions do not involve a large amount of walking, so this ship is also suitable for passengers with limited mobility.

The food in the main dining room varies every day, with chefs drawing inspiration from regional and seasonal specialties. Passengers can look forward to perfectly-seared steak, Rockefeller oysters, seasonal salads, and seafood soups. Dessert features a variety of American classics, from apple pie to marionberry cheesecake. Snacks are always available between meals, and with advance notice, the chefs can accommodate any dietary need.

Entertainment and Activities

Onboard activities on the American Spirit are relaxed. Passengers can play cards, read books, or socialize with other cruise guests. Between lunch and dinner is a daily cocktail hour where passengers can meet and greet each other over their favorite drinks. In the evenings, local historians and entertainers come onboard to give lectures or sing shanties.

Dress Code

The American Spirit has no official dress code, though many passengers choose to dress up for cocktail hour and for dinner. Casual resort wear is recommended during the day and on shore excursions. There are no Formal Nights.
