Explore the wine regions in the south of France on a premium river cruise with the AmaCello!

Cruises on board the AmaCello

Enjoy a river cruise in comfort and style on the AmaCello. Outfitted in vibrant purple, orange and gold hues, the ship brought a breath of fresh air to the blossoming river cruise industry with her 2008 debut. She sails the south of France along the Rhône river, offering one-of-a-kind cruises that will delight wine-lovers and foodies alike. Experience the rich culinary traditions of the region at the Chef's Table, the ship's onboard specialty restaurant. Taste the local wine, paired with chocolates or cheese under the recommendations of an expert sommelier. Or visit a truffle farm and be delighted as the farmers' specially-trained dogs search for mushrooms before your eyes. A river cruise on the AmaCello is the perfect way to experience the flavors of southern France.

The AmaCello is a premium river cruise ship that combines cruise ship essentials with innovative features to keep guests comfortable and entertained. In addition to a sun deck, a piano lounge and a pool, a fleet of bicycles allows passengers to explore the destinations like a local, as well as stay active and fit on their trip.

Ship information

Staterooms on the AmaCello are particularly spacious for a river boat, with standard rooms measuring 170 square feet and suites at 255 square feet. Most suites feature a French balcony, and suites have an additional floor-to-ceiling window. Enjoy perks such as free Wi-Fi onboard, an interactive TV that can also be used as a computer, and complimentary bottled water that is replenished daily. A small number of single staterooms furnished with twin beds are also available for guests traveling alone.

Dining & Gastronomy

The dining room on the AmaCello serves rich, decadent dishes inspired by the regions it is traveling through. Expect lots of seafood, creamy soups, and butter, liberally applied. Though the ship has only one dining room, the menu changes every night, and a variety of appetizers, entrees and desserts will give passengers plenty of choice. Beer and wine is included in the cost of the cruise, and both are liberally poured. Morning soup, afternoon tea and late-night snacks are available to keep passengers from getting puckish between meals.

Entertainment and Activities

The AmaCello features port-heavy, destination-intensive river cruises which immerse its passengers in the local culture and cuisine. Although educational lectures, trivia competitions and chamber music performances take place almost every night, the real emphasis is on the destinations, and many passengers prefer to use the evenings to rest up before a long day of sightseeing. City tours are ranked according to activity level, and bicycles and helmets are available at no extra charge for passengers who prefer to explore the destinations on their own.

Dress Code

The daytime dress code on the AmaCello is casual, and passengers should be careful to pack clothing that is appropriate and practical for the destination and time of year. Comfortable shoes are recommended, as walking tours are a popular type of shore excursion. Though there is no formal dress code, passengers tend to dress more smart-casual for dinner. The only semi-formal dinner is the Captain's Farewell Dinner on the last night of the cruise, which some passengers use as an opportunity to dress up.
